2025 Summer Harbor Happenings

A look ahead at what we're up to this Summer!

Words from Pastor Janette

Mind our mess! Searcey Renovation broke ground Monday, March 3
Mind our mess! Searcey Renovation broke ground Monday, March 3

Dearest Church, we have come such a long way! Having our ribbon cutting a few weeks ago made things feel so real! This dream and vision that has taken years to come to life, finally has and will be used for the first time this summer! As I write this, our first LCM (Living Coast Ministry) group is completing their time with us, and we are getting ready for the next one to come in. What a whirlwind way to bring in summer!

You'll notice in our events calendar below however, that we have a pretty easygoing summer this year! Between Pastor Sadie being on her (well deserved!) Sabbatical, construction getting done, and hosting THREE Living Coast Ministry groups- we are pretty much at max capacity! This isn't because we CAN'T add more to our calendar- it's really because we shouldn't.

Most of the year is spent living through the day to day grind of life- 9-5 work, kids school schedule, traffic delays, work trips, family events, holiday planning, on and on and on. Its not often that we take intentional time to rest, bask in what we have accomplished, and get excited for what is coming next. This summer, I hope you look around at all that you have completed, and just enjoy the time of rest and add in some FUN and joy where you can.

We know that we live in a world and society that prefers to keep us run down and not focused on our health. A world with constant tragedies, where we can never let our nervous system settle. In these times, rest IS resistance. We know we have so much work ahead of us; as individuals, families, and as a community- so lets really get ourselves rested and ready this summer as you are able. The work will continue, and we don't have to all burn ourselves out over it.

Celebrate your special moments, take a swim in the ocean, hike under cool shade, enjoy a sunset, and feel gratitude for Gods gift of creation.

Peace be with you.

About the Series

Guide developed by Rev. Lisle Gwynn Garrity with input from the SA creative team

There are many heroes of the faith, people we admire and wish to be. However, there are even more ordinary people of faith—those doing what they can with what they have to make a difference. We’ve selected 16 bold stories of those often overlooked in our biblical narratives. Using visual art and prompts for reflection, we hope to dig deep into the worlds of these characters, entering their stories with curiosity and openness to what they might teach us.
