Keynote Speaker
Rev. Tanya Lopez serves as Senior Pastor of Downey Memorial Christian Church. She has been involved in church leadership at the congregational, regional, and general levels. Most recently she completed her second term as part of the Regional MLK Celebration planning committee and has accepted the position of First Vice-Moderator of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in the Pacific Southwest Region.

She has a background in Psychology and Education. She earned her BA in Psychology from Cal State Fullerton and was an early childhood educator prior to transitioning into vocational ministry full time. She earned her master’s in divinity from Claremont School of Theology and was ordained into Christian Ministry in 2022.
One of her greatest joys is empowering others, especially women, to live their faith authentically in new and relevant ways. Journeying with people in discovering ways to connect more deeply with God, each other and to their communities is her greatest passion.
She is a proud first-generation bilingual daughter of immigrants. She sees herself as a bridge to help bring communities and generations together. Tanya is a creative thinker who seeks to lead and serve others from a place of radical hospitality, welcome and inclusivity.
She and her husband, Rev. Al Lopez, are the proud parents of two wonderful girls and a feisty min-pin.
