Our community has been excited to watch our Blue Theology program grow so quickly over the last three years. It took about one year to work with Rev. Dan Paul, founder of Blue Theology, Pacific Grove, to learn the program while figuring out how we would be able to make it work on our own campus. After a year of planning and preparing, we welcomed our first Blue Theology group from Colorado during the summer of 2022. And this last summer, we welcomed our second group, this time from Minneapolis. You all have heard us talk about these amazing experiences and many of you have participated with the groups and served as hospitality volunteers. What a great three years it has been!

This year we are both humbled and very proud to announce that Harbor Christian Church has been included in an amazing grant through University of California, Irvine due to our work in bringing Blue Theology to Harbor.

Please read our statement about this amazing grant experience below. And don’t forget to click the link to the official press release the UCI put together. Can you find our church name in the press release?

From our September 27th Press Release

Harbor has been named as a grant recipient through the University of California, Irvine. Harbor will receive a portion of a $5.5 million grant, funded from the UC Office of the President.

These funds allow the formation of the Wildland-Urban Interface Climate Action Network (WUICAN) whose goal will be to support community leaders and organizations in designing appropriate responses for climate action. These responses will be formed through collaboration of multidisciplinary researchers from UCI, UCR and UCSD, Indigenous tribes, and local and regional environmental justice organizations, including the Orange County Environmental Justice Education Fund, GREEN-Madison Park Neighborhood Association, Sacred Places Institute, Crystal Cove Conservancy and Harbor Christian Church.
